NSHDA brings farmers, agricultural professionals and partners together around one purpose: productive, responsible and sustainable agriculture in Tanzania.
Who We Are
Why NSHDA Exists
In the Southern Highlands, the land is generous. Rainfall is reliable, altitude gives fruit and nuts exceptional quality, and farming knowledge runs through families. Yet farmers still sell cheaply, often to whoever arrives first at the farm gate with cash. The gap is not effort, and it is not soil — it is organisation, quality discipline and access to buyers who pay what the produce is truly worth. NSHDA was formed to close that gap, and to make sure the value created on Tanzanian farms stays with the people who created it.
Who You Are Actually Working With
NSHDA is an association of farmers and agricultural professionals — people who have planted, pruned, harvested and negotiated in these same conditions. We speak the language of the field and the language of the contract, and we sit on the farmer's side of the table in both. That is the difference between an office that studies agriculture and an association that lives in it.
Rooted in Njombe, Working Across Tanzania
Njombe is our home and our proving ground, but our farmer network and buyer relationships extend well beyond it. We work with growers in other regions and with buyers who operate nationally, so a farmer in one region can benefit from demand discovered in another.
Our Purpose
To help farmers farm better, earn better and grow sustainably — and to give agricultural partners and investors a credible, professional counterpart in the Southern Highlands.
